යුරෝපා සංගමය (EU) යනු එහි පදනම් ගිවිසුම් හි පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් වන සාමාජික රටවල් 27 ක දේශපාලන හා ආර්ථික සංගමයක් වෙයි.

1950 දශකයේ දී, ප්‍රධාන රාජ්‍ය හයක් EU හි පූර්වකය වන යුරෝපීය ප්‍රජාවෝ (බෙල්ජියම, ප්‍රංශය, ඉතාලිය, ලක්සම්බර්ග්, නෙදර්ලන්තය, සහ බටහිර ජර්මනිය) පිහිටුවන ලදී. ඉතිරි රාජ්‍ය පසුව විවර්ධන වලදී එකතු වී ඇත. යුරෝපා සංගමය හා එක්වීමට, රාජ්‍යයක් විසින් කෝපන්හේගන් නිර්ණායක ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන ආර්ථික හා දේශපාලන අවශ්‍යතා සපුරාලිය යුතු අතර, අපේක්ෂක රාජ්‍යයකට ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී රජයක් සහ නිදහස් වෙළඳපල ආර්ථිකයක් සහ ඊට අනුරූප නිදහස සහ ආයතන සහ නීතියේ පාලනය සඳහා ගෞරවය තිබිය යුතුය. සංගමයේ විවර්ධනය සියලුම සාමාජිකයින්ගේ කැමැත්ත මත සහ අපේක්ෂක රාජ්‍යය, acquis communaautaire ලෙස හැඳින්වෙන දැනට පවතින යුරෝපා සංගම් නීති පද්ධතිය අනුමත කිරීම මත රඳා පවතී.

1973 දී EU හි පූර්වකය එක් වූ එක්සත් රාජධානිය, 2020 ජනවාරි 31 දින යුරෝපා සංගමයෙන් ඉවත් විය. වෙනත් කිසිදු සාමාජික රාජ්‍යයක් මෙයින් ඉවත් වී නොමැති අතර කිසිවෙක් ගේ සාමාජිකත්ත්වය අත්හිටුවා නැත. එහෙත් සමහර පරායත්ත ප්‍රදේශ හෝ අර්ධ ස්වයං පාලන ප්‍රදේශ, සංගමයෙන් ඉවත් වී ඇත.
