Group Editing සංස්කරණය

@NisansaDdS As an extension of your initial discussion at the කොපි කඩේ on a project proposal to Wikimedia.I would like to submit the following idea to you as a supplement to that.

The Group editing, or the practice of multiple users working together to edit a Wikipedia article, can have negative effects on the content of the encyclopedia if it is not properly managed. One potential issue is that group editing can lead to biases being introduced into the content, as a group of editors who share similar viewpoints may work together to present their perspective in the article. It means a group of Wikipedia editors, all with their own unique perspectives and biases, coming together to tackle the task of writing an article. This can result in articles that are not balanced or neutral, which goes against Wikipedia's policy of presenting a neutral point of view.

To help mitigate these risks, Wikipedia has a number of policies in place to govern group editing. For example, Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest policy requires editors to disclose any financial or personal connections they have to the subject of an article they are editing. This helps to ensure that articles are not being unduly influenced by personal or financial interests. In addition, Wikipedia has a process called "consensus building" that is designed to ensure that all viewpoints are taken into account when making decisions about the content of an article. This process involves seeking input from a diverse group of editors and attempting to reach a decision that reflects the views of the community as a whole.Wikipedia's Consensus policy states that decisions about the content of articles should be based on the consensus of the community of editors.(not a group ) This means that editors should seek input from others and try to reach a decision that reflects the views of the community as a whole. also there is a policy, a Wikipedia's Conflict of Interest (COI) policy, which requires editors to disclose any financial or personal connections they have to the subject of an article they are editing. This helps to ensure that articles are not unduly influenced by personal or financial interests. RsEkanayake 02:30, 24 දෙසැම්බර් 2022 (යූටීසී)Reply

I do not see the relevance of this request unless we intend to edit articles that are personally or financially related to us. NisansaDdS (talk) 03:25, 24 දෙසැම්බර් 2022 (යූටීසී)Reply
"Just a friendly reminder that this is an awareness, not a request. Just wanted to make sure you were in the loop. RsEkanayake 09:23, 24 දෙසැම්බර් 2022 (යූටීසී)Reply
As I mentioned earlier, the Wikipedia foundation itself will be involved in the project if and when it is started. So there is zero worry about potential rule breaking. You can directly consult them on these matters when the project is on the way. One thing that is holding the project back is the lack of support from the community members. It appears that there is no opposition within the community to your proposal, but in my opinion, it seems as though your true intention is to make yourself a king rather than genuinely contribute to the growth of the Sinhala Wikipedia. Your lack of response to the questions posed there in කෝපිකඩේ to you only reinforces this conclusion. Still you may proceed with your idea on the authority of Mr. @Sinhalawapand Mr.@Lee also based on the policies of Sinhala Wikipedia. it is the responsibility of the community to closely monitor and scrutinize your individual actions to ensure that they align with the best interests of the Sinhala Wikipedia project. Your replies became hostile and it was obvious that you were arguing in ill faith thus it was decided that it was futile to try to make you see reason. Especially given that:
  • You were fixated on some your own perversion of Wikipedia rules where you somehow interpreted them to mean that not using anonymity and other elements of this project is equal to breaking the rule on canvassing and CoI. (Same thing you are attempting to claim here)
  • You tried to frame a grant given by the Wikipedia foundation itself as a violation of the rule of Paid editing.
  • You repeatedly devalued previous contributions done to Sinhala and Tamil languages by myself and my peers. Even after your request for "examples of contributions" was entertained in the said thread and elsewhere.
  • You kept going back to suggesting us using your idea of running the same project with not applying to this grant and had the idea that "university bus, etc" would somehow work without capital. Even after I explained how it is infeasible and invited you to attempt it yourself, you went back to basically saying "no, do what I say. But I am not telling how".
  • You tired to devalue our efforts to use the translation systems provided by Wikipedia itself because of your personal distaste towards "mega corporations".

thanks for the compliment on my tone! I guess I must be doing something right. But as for the meaning of what I said, I'm sorry if it didn't impress you. Maybe I need to work on my delivery or choose my words more carefully next time.
Please note that the information provided in my statements pertains to a hypothetical future scenario. It is based solely on my personal speculation and should not be taken as a representation of the views of the entire community. By acknowledging these potential developments, you may be able to proactively mitigate any potential issues and approach the task in a more efficient manner, as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure. Therefore, I respectfully request that you consider this information in a positive light.
As I don't see the points you raised as important to answer, I won't answer them one by one. however I am unable to locate any mention of a Tamil question in the allegations. It is possible that this is a figment of your imagination or a means of attempting to extricate yourself from a difficult situation. Could you please provide more information or a reference for this claim.
Apologies for the confusion regarding the Wikipedia Foundation grant. Could you kindly provide a citation or specific reference indicating where this information was mentioned? My searches have not revealed any mention of it in the available materials, aside from your statement. RsEkanayake 13:50, 24 දෙසැම්බර් 2022 (යූටීසී)Reply
Did not reply as the argument is happening in bad faith.
But if someone else comes and genuinely looks for the resource instead of sabotage, have a look at:
May it help your language work, as Sinhala seems doomed due to people treating it as their personal property. NisansaDdS (talk) 03:56, 24 අගෝස්තු 2023 (යූටීසී)Reply
