Request for adminship

Hi again, Lee. Could you help me by nominating me at the RFA? I am not sure I understand thoroughly. A little description of my areas of interest:

• I am an administrator at Commons, where I do a lot of maintenance tasks relating to Commons itself, and its content relating copyrights and deletion criteria. I occasionally do spot images like this at the file list. I believe I could offer a helping hand by occasionally cleaning such files. Although I dont directly understand written Sinhala, I do (up to some extent) understand Sinhala written in English. I am also a very active global editor. Upon the fixing of the new CommonsHelper2 bot, I could also help in transferring free images to Commons from this wiki.

I appreciate your offer. However at the moment I prefer if the delete tool is available to users who fully understand the language and know about the how the Sinhala Wikipedia came to be what it is today. In another words we have to go easy on the deleting process and most of the times we have to correct the mistakes done by normal editors rather than deleting them. If you know about the history of Sinhala Wikipedia, there was a time two new Administrators started applying rules of English Wikipedia as they are and the result wasn’t something very nice. So in my opinion you don’t 100% fit the bill. If you still wish to help us and be a part of us, for the time being the best way I see is joining in the process of tagging the images that should be deleted properly so another admin can also verify the issue. You may still proceed with an RFA if you want and if the community thinks otherwise I will bow to their will.--Lee (talk) 04:29, 24 ජනවාරි 2011 (යූටීසී)

That's alright, you have a valid point; the admin flag is a power tool, and misusing it (or even clicking the wrong button on the wrong page by accident) can cause damage. Inter wiki Links
