1926-1927 වසරවලදී [[විහාරමහාදේවී උද්‍යානය|කොළඹ වික්ටෝරියා උද්‍යානයේ]] නොමෑඩ්ස් ක්‍රීඩාපිටියේදී MCC කණ්ඩායමට එරෙහිව ‘සිලෝන්’ (1972 වසරට පෙර අප රට හැඳින්වූයේ සිලෝන් යන නාමයෙනි) කණ්ඩායම ලෙස ප්‍රථම වරට තරඟ වැදුණි. එහිදී ‘සිලෝන්’ කණ්ඩායම ඉණිමක පරාජයක් ලැබීය. සිලෝන් කණ්ඩායම සිය ප්‍රථම ජයග්‍රහණය වාර්තා කරන්නේ 1932 – 1933 වසරවලදී පැටියල (Patiala) කණ්ඩායමට එරෙහිවයි. ඒ ඩ්රූව් ‘පැන්ඩෝව්’ ක්‍රීඩාංගනයේදී සිලෝන් කණ්ඩායම 1950 සිට එම්.ජේ. ගෝපාලන් කුසලානය සඳහා තරඟ වැදුණු අතර 1970 දී ‘සිලෝන්’ කණ්ඩායම ‘ශ්‍රී ලංකා’ ලෙස සිය නම වෙනස් කරනු ලැබීය.
