Articles relating to areas regarded as the cradle of civilization, any location where civilization is understood to have independently emerged. The term has frequently been applied to a variety of regions, in particular to Ancient India, Ancient China, the Ancient Near East, which contained the Fertile Crescent, and the pre-Columbian Peru and Mesoamerica.
