Yasiru grew up in modest circumstances in [[Udahamulla]], a village situated in [[Nugegoda]]. He had his education at two schools, namely Sri Jayawardenepura Maha Vidyalaya, [[Kotte]], Lumbini College, [[Colombo]]. After passing the [[GCE Ordinary Level]] Examination in 1993, he entered Lumbini College, Collombo for his [[GCE Advanced Level]] education.
