මොසැම්බික් නිළ වශයෙන් මොසැම්බික් සමුහාණ්ඩුව, දකුණු අප්‍රිකාවේ පිහිටි රටකි. එහි මායිම් වන්නේ නැගෙනහිරින් ඉන්දියානු සාගරය, උතුරින් ටැන්සානියා, වයඹින් මලාවි සහ සැම්බියා, බටහිරින් සිම්බාබ්වේ, නිරිත දිගින් ස්වාසිලන්තය හා දකුණු අප්‍රිකාවටයි. 1498 වස්කෝද ගාමා විසින් මෙය ගවේෂණය කළ අතර, 1505 දි පෘතුගාලය මෙරට ජනාවාස පිහිට වීමට දායක විය. මොසැම්බික් 1975 නිදහස් රාජ්‍යයක් වු අතර ටික කලකට පසු මොසැම්බික් සමුහාණ්ඩුව විය. එය 1977 සිට 1992 දක්වා පැවති සිවිල් යුද්ධයක ප්‍රතිඵලයකි. මෙම රට පෘතුගීසින් විසින් නම් කල අතර මුසා ඇල්බින් නම් අරාබි වෙළෙන්දාගේ නම එයට යොදා ඇත. මොසැම්බික් පෘතුගීසි භාෂා ප්‍රජා රටවල් හා පොදු රාජ්‍ය මණ්ඩලය සහ ප්‍රැන්කෝෂොනෝ නිරීක්ෂක යන සංගම්වල සාමාජිකයෙකි. මොසැම්බික් සමුහාණ්ඩුවෙහි ජිවිතා‍පේක්ෂා කාලය සහ ළදරු මරණ අනුපාතය යන දෙකම ලොව බොහෝ රටවලට සාපේක්ෂව ඉතා පහළ මට්ටමක පවතී. මෙයට මුලික හේතුව මැලේරියාවයි. එහි මානව වර්ධන දර්ශකය ද ලෝකයේ අනෙකුත් රටවලට සාපේක්ෂව ඉතා පහළ මට්ටමක පවතී.
