බෙලාරස් මායිම් වන්නේ රුසියාවේ උතුරට හා නැගෙනහිරට හා උක්රේන් දකුණට, පෝලන්ත බටහිරට, ලිතුනියා සහ ලැම්වියා උතුරට හා එය ඊසාන යුරෝපීය භූමියකට අයත් රටකි. මින්ස්ත් එහි අගනුවරයි. අනෙකුත ප්‍රධාන නගර වන්නේ බිරෙස්ට්, ප්‍රොඩ්නෝ, හරඩ්නා, ගෝමෙල් (හොමෙයිල්), මොගිලෙම් (මහිල්යෝව්) සහ පිටෙබ්ස්ත් (විසෙබ්ස්ත්) වේ. එයින් සියයට 40න් එහි වර්ග කි.මී. 207600 කින් වනානතරය. එහි ආර්ථික වහයෙන් ප්‍රධානම කොටස වන්නේ කෘෂිකර්මය සහ නිෂ්පාදනයන් ය. 20 වන ශතවර්ෂය තෙත් බෙලරුසියානුවන් නිෂ්චිත ජාතික අන්‍යන්‍යතාවයක් ගොඩනංවා ගැනීමට එහි පැවැති බිවි ශතවර්ෂ ගණනාවක් විවිධ ජාතීන්ට අයත් රටවල් වලට අයිතිව පැවති බැවිනි. එවැනි රටවල් අතර පෝලෙස්ත්ට්, ලිතුනියා, රුසියානු රාජ්‍ය, පෝලන්ත ලිතුආනියන් පොදුරාජ්‍ය වේ. කෙටි කලකට පැවැති බොලරුසියන් මහජන සමූහාණ්ඩුව (1918 – 19) පසු බෙලාරස් ඡන්දායක පදනමෙන් සෝවියට් සමූහාණ්ඩුව වන බයිලොරුසියන් SSR විය. බෙලරුසියන් බිම් එහි වර්තමාන මායිම් ගම අවසන් එක්සත් කිරීම 1939 වූ අතර දෙවන පෝලන්ත සමූහාණ්ඩුව විසින් අත්පත්කර ගත් බෙලරුසියන් රුසියානු වාර්ගික බිම් මොලොටෙව් රිබෙන්ට්‍රොප් පනත මගින් එහි කොන්දේසි හා වරප්‍රසාද මත සොව්යට් සමූහාණ්ඩුවට බදස්ධ කරන ලදී. එහි ප්‍රදේශ හා ජාතීන් 2 වන ලෝක සංග්‍රාහම සමයේ විනාශ වූ අතර බෙලාරැස් තම ජනගහනයෙන් 30% හා එහි ආර්තික සම්පත් වලින් භාගයක් පමණ විනාශ විය. යුද්ධයෙන් පසු වර්ෂවලදී මෙම සමූහාණ්ඩුව නැවත ගොඩනගන ලදී.
